Considering the global pandemic, the new season of Marie Jo Lingerie has seen its share of challenges which has led to the restructuring of the new collection. Fewer ranges, later delivery dates and cuts in the amount of stock available means that this autumn-winter season will be a little different.
There are still some treats in store for all of you dedicated Marie Jo bra fans. There is a decadent feel to the new season fabrics with bold colours, coupled with rich embroidery. You can imagine yourself laying languorously on a chaise longue wearing the Marie Jo Sylvia or getting ready for a glamorous evening in the Marie Jo Judith. However, the season starts on a lighter note with the Marie Jo Axelle which was originally due to be part of the summer season.
The Axelle has made several appearances in the past in a variety of colours and prints, and its popularity is the reason it has made a comeback. As with every Marie Jo Lingerie collection, there are a variety of bra styles, but the best seller is the push-up plunge with removable pads. This shape is ideal if you are a little shallow at the top of the breast and find that you get a bit of gaping at the top of other plunge styles. It also works well to even out breasts with a disparity in size as you can remove one of the pads. The lace across the cups adds a hint of luxury, team it with the stunning lace hot pants and you have a sexy lingerie set which is still comfortable enough to wear all day.
This season we are spoiled with recolouring’s of our favourite collections, the first to arrive in is the Marie Jo Avero in Bronze, this metallic shade has a soft sheen on the fabric with the centre of the daisies picked out in a shimmery thread. The Bronze has already proven to be popular with several sizes selling out before it has even been launched. The bronze is only available in selected bra and matching brief styles. It has not been produced in our favourite, the 0100418 T-shirt bra which is a shame because the alternative styles do not fit in the same way. If you are fans of the soft seamless full cup bra 0100410, padded balcony bra 0100419 or bestseller multiway T-shirt bra 0100416 you are in luck!
In addition to the Marie Jo Avero briefs, you can also choose the Color Studio briefs in bronze which are available in both the smooth style and the lace. Designed to give you a smooth silhouette these briefs are a great addition to your Marie Jo Avero collection to add even more versatility to the collection.
The metallic theme is carried through with the second Marie Jo Avero colour of the season, Gold and this is a wow colour! Available in November it is going to get your party season started in style, we may be more subdued in our celebrations this year, but it doesn’t mean you can’t bare a shoulder to flash those gold daisy straps! This colour is available in the strapless bra, if you are looking for something more inspiring to go under your cocktail dress that your faithful beige strapless bra then this is it!
After the soft pastels and neutrals of the summer, it’s refreshing to see a pop of colour. The Marie Jo Judith looks fantastic in the strong red with the cobalt blue and soft pink embroidery. It is definitely on the list of our favourites for the season at Plums Lingerie. Along with the well-known bra style of the push-up bra with removable pads and the padded balcony bra there two other styles that aren’t as familiar. The full cup bra differs from others by Marie Jo because it has a lower centre gore so there is slightly less coverage over the cup. The balcony bra which has half-cup slight padding isn’t typical as it doesn’t look like a balcony bra! The cups are more triangle in shape so until I can get my hands on this and fit it I can’t advise whether it would work if you are a fan of the more traditional balcony bra like the Marie Jo Pearl Balcony Bra.
If you are a lover of lace then the Marie Jo Sylvia is one for you, the velvet blue glossy fabric is printed with a modern print paired with the beautiful lace. The dark blue is a colour that is regularly requested, gentler than a stark black this colour is flattering as well as elegant. The lace is featured on the delicate straps and the band ensuring that even when you choose a smooth cup bra, perfect for those fine winter knits, the lace briefs tie in perfectly to make you feel chic and stylish. If you are looking for a smoother line under your clothes the Marie Jo Color Studio is available in the velvet blue for a perfect colour match.
We are on much safer ground with another colour of the Marie Jo Jane, this is a fantastic collection and has a legion of fans for good reason. It looks amazing in the new blue, Lazuriete. Recolouring of favourite collections don’t always work but the Marie Jo Jane lends itself to colours because of this simple and elegant embroidered design. This embroidery looks spectacular in the briefs, so even if you are looking for a smooth cup the overall look is still high fashion and luxurious.
As the party season approached the Marie Jo Jane gets into the swing of things with the appearance of a lavish gold, this a stunning recolouring that will make it on to many Christmas lists however with stock already sold out in some sizes there could be some disappointment. This festive colour is available in the two most popular bra styles, the push-up and the smooth t-shirt bra.
The wintery opulence is continued with the olive green Phoebe. The shimmering Swiss embroidery covers the bras in fan-like petals. This collection is truly something special and just what we need to make ourselves feel fabulous at the end of a long and strange year. We’re are in love with the fabulous full briefs, as far away from a pair of Bridget Jones as you can image. The full briefs is the hot style and is fantastic with the midi dresses and skirt that are so fashionable.
If you prefer something a little more classic the Marie Jo Anna is a delightfully pretty black collection with delicate modern-looking lace to soften the solid lines. The bras styles include both pretty and practical with the smooth cups with delicate ribs for under those fine knits and the lace cup bras that can be hidden under snuggly jumpers or worn under a cocktail dress for a night out, or in. The top pick for this collection is triangle bra, with its delicious plunge front and sweeping lace at the side.
The Marie Jo Ely is another black collection but has a playful vintage twist with the two-tone gingham print and the bold guipure lace. The Ely injects a little extra style into your day to day wardrobe. Unfortunately, there is no full cup in the collection but the balcony bra sit the horizontal seam is a good alternative and it still offers a decent amount of coverage and support.
This season Marie Jo are producing fewer collections due to COVID and have reduced the amount of stock they are manufacturing. This means we could see the more popular sizes like the 32E, 34C etc going out of stock more quickly.
I’d love to hear if you have any favourites in the new season and if you want to be the first to know when you arrivals are available you can join the email list or follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
