After 2020 and a rather inauspicious start to 2021 I think we all need a little cheering up. The new collections from Marie Jo lingerie are bound to put a smile on your face. Covid has caused huge disruptions to the lingerie industry and Marie Jo rejigged last years collections and moved some to this season. This was good news for us as it means we were able to see them in real life whereas other collections have been only been viewed over a dodgy webcam.
The season begins with a flood of colour. The Marie Jo Christy was launched last year in a romantic white, but this summer sees the Christy available in a warm mango colour. The bold colour combined with the gorgeous embroidery is shown off beautifully in the balcony bra. In addition to the Christy full cup bra and balcony bra, there are two smooth cup bra styles. The T-shirt bra and padded balcony bra are designed to be smooth under close-fitting tops but you still get the pretty detailing on the straps and on the side of the cup on the T-shirt bra.
Fans of strong colour combinations will love the new Marie Jo Rosalia, the colour Luminoso is a hot pink teamed with a sherbet orange. The graphic embroidery makes this collection look very modern and youthful. There are 4 different bra styles including an ever-popular push-up bra with removable pads.
In addition to the well known brief styles, there is a twist on the luxury thong. Marie Jo has added removable suspender belts. I do not believe these are fit for purpose, without the suspender belt being firmly anchored around the waist with a hook and eye fastening I can envisage one wrong move resulting in your knickers being pulled down!
A more subtle option is the Marie Jo Paloma which has been recoloured this season is a soft pretty pink. You may remember it from last summer when it was launched as a delightful blue and white. It was so popular the briefs sold out in only a few weeks. It is a shame that Marie Jo chose pink on pink rather than white embroidery on the pink print as it would have shown off the detailing more. Still, it’s a very pretty collection.
A more successful recolour is the Marie Jo Jane in Summer Jeans. This is a two-tone embroidery that is as fresh as the spring sky. Every time there is a new colour in the Marie Jo Jane it is guaranteed to sell out in the briefs and 30 inch back size bras very quickly. This colour in the Marie Jo Jane also perfectly matches the Marie Jo Color Studio briefs which is ideal if you are looking for seamless briefs. I also like to have a couple of different styles to give more options on what outfits the bra can be worn with.
The Colour Studio collection also has a precious peach colour which matches with the Marie Jo Avero first new colour of the season. Bright and punchy the peach is highlighted with contrasting yellow and peach daisies making this a fun and summery range for warmer days. The Precious Peach is available in four different styles but unfortunately not our best selling T-shirt bra 0100418. This is such as shame as the other styles do not fit in the same way.
This is also the case with the second new colour of the Marie Jo Avero. Tiny is more of a style description than a colour. The shade is similar to the existing caffe latte but the daisies are smaller and in ivory and coffee, which is a lovely combination. As the daisies are smaller Marie Jo has decided to make a split strap with one strap with daisies and the second one a simple spaghetti strap. The Tiny is a delightful change from the classic caffe latte, a little lighter fresher and more modern.
The soft coffee and cream combination is given an additional pale blue highlight in the Marie Jo Nathy. This collection strongly reminds me of the Marie Jo Gala from a couple of summers ago. The embroidery is pretty without being fussy. I especially like the way they have used it on the briefs, teaming it up with an elasticated striped waistband on the hotpants and rio briefs. The seams on the briefs are glued rather than elasticated so sit smoothly against the skin.
An alternative to having seams glued is to use a soft stretch lace as they do in the Marie Jo Elis. This collection shows the impact that a well-chosen lace can have. It is used to great effect on all styles of briefs and bras including the smooth cup bra. The lace is on the straps and around the band so you can still wear these bras under tight tops. The back of the bras is just as pretty as the front! The lace follows around and the back straps broaden into winged panels to help keep your silhouette smooth.
The Marie Jo summer collections wouldn’t be complete without some neutral tones that can be worn all season long. It can be easy to stick to your favourite Marie Jo Avero but there are some stunning alternatives, such are the Marie Jo Sylvia in Glossy Sand. This warm beige has a vintage feel with the rose printed satin combined with a classic lace. All bras in this collection have a satin cup and straps, with the lace used as a highlight detail. The full briefs look especially stunning with lots of lace, when these came out in Navy in the winter they sold out almost immediately.
If you prefer a less traditional style the Marie Jo Dolores has a cute modern lace in a pretty pink. The straps of the collection are adorably plaited and accented with bows. Fun and flirty while being ideal for everyday summer wear, the Marie Jo Dolores is a set that you will come back to time and again.
Every summer there is always a pretty white collection, there is nothing as bright and fresh as a new white bra. The Marie Jo Delphine has a romantic broderie anglais lace which is utilised beautifully on the balcony bra. If you are looking for a more simple style the t-shirt bra has small accents of lace while maintaining a smooth cup. All the briefs are designed to be worn under any outfit as they all have glued seams so they don’t dig in and cause lines. Fans of Marie Jo bras have plenty of choice this summer!
We hope you like the new collections as much as we do and we can’t wait to hear what you think of them.
